Research progress and prospect of Curcuma kwangsiensis on anti-liver fibrosis and promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis based on W-P corpuscles

www.doi.org/10.52768/jjgastro/1114

Hepatic fibrosis is a necessary stage for the development of chronic liver disease to cirrhosis. Up to now, no satisfactory drugs have been found to interfere with liver fibrosis. The disturbance of hepatic microcirculation is one of the important pathogenesis of chronic liver disease. Hepatic Sinusoidal Endothelial Cell (HSEC) is the most important cell which constitutes the hepatic microcirculation barrier.

Experience of intussusception at a tertiary care hospital: A prospective study

www.doi.org/10.52768/jjgastro/1115

Intussusception of the bowel is defined as the telescoping of a proximal segment of the gastrointestinal tract within the lumen of the adjacent segment. This condition is frequent in children and presents with the classic triad of cramping abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea and a palpable tender mass. However, bowel intussusception in adults is considered a rare condition, accounting for 5% of all cases of intussusceptions and almost 1%-5% of bowel obstruction.

Acute intussusception of Meckel's Diverticulum in a 15-year-old boy: Clinical, imaging and laparoscopy aspects

www.doi.org/10.52768/jjgastro/1116

Acute intussusception on Meckel's diverticulum (MD) is a rare cause of abdominal pain requiring emergency surgery. The aim of this study, is to provide an adequate level of clinical knowledge and diagnostic modalities as well as management of MD. We report an interesting case of a long symptomatic ileum intussusception and recidivist due to a MD.

Challenges in diagnosing acute mesenteric ischemia in a patient with COVID 19

www.doi.org/10.52768/jjgastro/1117

Extrapulmonary manifestations of COVID-19 including acute mesenteric ischemia are being increasingly recognized and associated with extremely poorer clinical outcomes. Because of unclear clinical presentation, non-specific early imaging, and laboratory findings, may lead to loss of valuable time. Considering the high thrombotic risk in COVID-19, it is crucial to consider the high suspicion of acute mesenteric ischemia in patients with acute abdominal pain.

Seroprevalence of Hepatitis B virus in multitransfused beta-thalassemic patients in Pakistan

www.doi.org/10.52768/jjgastro/1118

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a major health problem worldwide with 2 billion people living with this virus around the globe. The major transmission route of this virus is blood and blood products. Thalaseemic patients received blood transfusions throughout their life and are at high risk of getting blood borne pathogens like HBV. The aim of the study is to evaluate the prevalence of Hepatitis B virus and different transfusion related parameters in Thalaseemic patients in Pakistan.
